Washing and Caring for Cotton and Linen Clothes
Linen and cotton garments are popular for their breathability and comfort, but they are also prone to shrinking, fading, and wrinkling. Proper washing and care can extend the life of your clothes and keep them in good condition.
Before washing, always check the garment's care label for specific washing instructions. Always wash dark and light colored clothes separately to prevent dye transfer.
Dos and Don'ts
Do this
Use a neutral or mild detergent, and avoid detergents containing bleach.
When hand washing, soak the garment in cold water for 15-20 minutes and gently rub.
When machine washing, select the delicate cycle and use a water temperature no higher than 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit).
After washing, gently squeeze out excess water; do not wring vigorously.
Don't do this
Do not use alkaline detergents, as they can damage the fabric fibers.
Do not soak for extended periods, as this can cause the garment to fade.
Do not wash in hot water, as this can cause the garment to shrink and lose its shape.
Do not wring vigorously, as this can cause the garment to wrinkle.
