Iron Usage and Safety

AppliancesClothing Care Appliances

Ironing is an important household skill that makes clothes neat and presentable. This guide will help you use an iron safely and effectively to refresh your garments.

Preparation:

1. Check the Iron: Ensure the soleplate is clean and free of dirt or scratches. Inspect the power cord for any damage or fraying.

2. Set up the Ironing Board: Place the ironing board on a stable surface and adjust it to a comfortable height.

3. Prepare the Clothes: Sort the clothes to be ironed by fabric type (e.g., cotton, linen, silk, synthetics). Check the care labels on the garments for ironing instructions.

4. Prepare a Spray Bottle: Fill a spray bottle with clean water to dampen clothes during ironing (especially wrinkle-prone fabrics like cotton and linen).

Warning

  • Safety First!

  • 1. The iron is very hot when in use. Never touch the soleplate to avoid burns.

  • 2. Always turn off the iron and unplug it after use. Allow the iron to cool completely before storing it.

  • 3. Keep children away from a hot iron to prevent accidents.

  • 4. Keep the iron away from flammable materials such as curtains and paper to prevent fire.

  • 5. If the iron malfunctions (e.g., smoking, electrical leakage), stop using it immediately and have it repaired.
